The Amiga 500 is sold, but I
sell a FAST RAM expansion card for the Single Psuedo
Zorro-II type slot on the left side for Fast RAM, Hard
Drive controller, or Zorro-II slot expansion.
The Commodore Amiga 500 was the low-end successor of
the Amiga 1000 and the predecessor of the Amiga 1200.
It was the main competitor of the Atari 520 STf (there
was a great "war" between the owners of these
two computers). It used a special system for its RAM
configuration: 512 KB of Chip RAM which could be accessed
by the Paula and Denise custom chips (sound & I/O
and video, respectively) and Fast RAM which could be
accessed only by the CPU.
The 68000 bus had two connectors, an external and an
internal one. An extension card could be added through
the internal connector on bottom of case and offered
512 KB of additional RAM and a battery-backed clock.

Hierbei handelt es sich um den meistverkauften Rechner
aus der Amiga-Reihe. Das Gerät wurde für viele
Computerfreaks zum Traumcomputer. Durch seine großartigen
Eigenschaften in Sachen Grafik und Sound, aber auch
wegen teilweise gravierender Stabilitätsprobleme
des Betriebssystems war er bald als Spielecomputer verschrien,
ein Ruf, den er leider bis heute nicht losgeworden ist.
Der Amiga 500, der um 1986 etwa zeitgleich mit dem
Amiga 2000 eingeführt wurde, teilte viele seiner
Leistungsdaten mit diesem. Da die Zielgruppe jedoch
der Heimbereich war, verzichtete man bei diesem Rechner
auf das Desktopgehäuse und spendierte ihm stattdessen
ein dem Commodore 128 ähnliches Outfit. Wie der
Amiga 1000 und 2000 besaß der Amiga 500 eine MC68000
CPU, die mit 7,14 Mhz getaktet war. Seine Speicherausstattung
betrug 512 KByte. Der Rechner war verglichen mit dem
Amiga 2000 recht spärlich aufrüstbar, besaß
aber doch einen Erweiterungsanschluß an der linken
Seite und eine sog. Trapdoor-Erweiterung an der Unterseite.
